Heroes of Newearth

A copy cat of Dota??? Wait, we don’t review games here that have nothing special in it. We are not some kind of gamers who get bribe so easily with nice graphics and some useless crap.

Heroes of Newearth or what we easily call it HON is not just a copy version of Dota with improve graphics, this version is made especially for Dota players and even those who are new with this kind of game.

Why is this game made for us? All the features in the game will make our life easier. Here are some of them and hopefully they add more stuff:

Game Reconnection – simply put that players who get disconnected can rejoin the game yeah…, way back when your playing Dota assembling your killing items and then suddenly you’ve got disconnected for no freaking reason? Well, HON developers made it possible to reconnect with just one click of the shiny button..

Easy Hotkeys – spells and skills of every hero can be use by Q, W, E, and R for your ultimate. No more pain after playing after 6hrs.. Also, usable inventory items can be use easily by pressing ALT + (Q, W, E, A, S, D).

Client-Server Netcode – no lag for all players when one player has a connection issue. So if someone’s downloading a bunch of things while playing HON, other players won’t have any problems…, except of course he’s your teammate and he can’t play well cause he’s lagging..

Buy Mode – one of those features you’ll love… Just press B then a menu shop will pop, all items are categorized for easy finding like Support, Accessories, Defensive, and etc. One category that I really like is the Recommended items where you can see recommended items for your heroe.. Also clicking an item that has other requirements will pop another small menu displaying the required items, so you can just buy those first without hustle finding it, its just displayed right there for our comfort!!! After buying those requirements the item just assemble automatically and you can just go home and get it. Although items in Heroes of Newearth have the same effects in Dota, you still need to familiarize all the names and their faces coz you might get lost They also have a stash where you’re items goes if your not near in the fountain.

Leaver Protection – nah…, actually when Heroes of Newearth first came out this feature’s kinda cool. Players or what we call them quitters get a penalty and some of those stuffs. So leavers need to think before quitting in the middle of the game…., but that was before. As I’ve said this feature was great when Heroes of Newearth first came out but Quitters and Leavers are just so damn smart enough to just leave their hero in the fountain and be AFK for about…….. until the freaking game ends!!!!! Sigh…, I think HON developers need to make a feature that observe heroes that don’t move for 30mins get kicked and marked as Leaver….. or Captain AFK..

Built in VOIP – another nah… This feature still needs improvement. I just can get what other players saying because it’s not just clear. Maybe VOIP from same country is ok but this is nationwide so…

Of course there are things I want to clear-out. I remember I read an article or I think it was on Heroes of Newearth website that the Warcraft Engine is limiting the capabilities of Dota and I was like… what?…., are you sure? Ok man, Warcraft World Editor is a freaking powerful tool man. I know this cause I’ve made some of my own maps way back when I was still fucking cute and awesome! Well, not that cute and awesome but yeah. I was already making custom maps before Dota came out, I can even say that the idea of Dota came from one of the mission in Frozen Throne where Illidan was trap on a moving cage and Kael’s from blood-elf trying to save him from Maive. That was an exciting mission by the way. Well my point is that some features offered in Heroes of Newearth can be put in Dota. For example let say the hotkeys.., Icefrog can just modify all heroes’ skills hot keys to Q, W, E, R. The Buy Mode style of HON can also be put in Dota if only someone do it , I think Icefrog is just lazy making those menu like shop. Well I think you get my point if you we’re also a map maker using Warcraft World Editor.

All in all you need to try this game, a game that is made for us gamers. Heroes of Newearth is not just a fancy and upgrade look of Dota, but an improve feature of what can be done in Dota that many of us gamers wish way back when we’re addicted to Dota.

Please do visit Heroes of Newearth website here for more information.

If you just want to get on to it right away killing those BA’s without too much of learning stuffs then this game is for you!!!

I think the game started offering me with this tutorial where I learned some basic stuff like sprinting, shooting some cardboard, how to lean right and left, and etc.. which I think is ok cause I hate reading the controls when its my first time playing some game that I don’t know if its just wasting my time. :p
Oh yeah, I forgot when was the time Operation7 let me make my own character. Not too much about it kasi maliit lng mapipili mung mukha kaya yun pinili ko yung ma angas na mukha.

After that, Operation7 gives us this straight to the point UI’s, di kana lilituhin para ma wala ka sa damo!!! First you’ll be selecting channels where you want to get in, may mga beginner channels, normal, and clan channels. So I was like “ok, let’s try the beginner”, syempre naman beginner muna eh baka naman umiyak agad ako!!! Then it showed me the lobby where I can see what rooms are already in battle, standby, map, game type, and capacity.

Industry Town ang unang na laro kung map. Ending with a score of 4 kills and 1 death, yeah, it ended too soon coz maybe na reach na ung condition for win. So un enter ulit ako sa iba and this time it was a map like deathmatch in counter-strike, naka limutan ko lang anong name ng map and sadly I didn’t do well their so I exit the game. Heheheh. Score ko dun mga 3kills and 2 death ata… yaks!!!

Then I explored some options of the game where you can customize your primary weapon, secondary weapon, costumes, gears, and items. Lots of weapons to choose from and I hope they add more. What interest me is that you can customize your weapon para ma adjust mo yung accuracy, mobility, range, reload time, control, and durability ng weapon mo. Grabe, your guns are like an MMORPG character where you can adjust its attributes
Off course this is where e-Games takes their revenue, it’s a free game alright but we need to buy those guns, bullets, cool gears, and some items if we want to use some of if which I think is fair.

Conclusion? You’ll start off with a customizable character with a free default submachine gun and a pistol, as I’ve said kung gusto mo mag wala agad ito ang game para sayo. Nothing too much to learn AT FIRST so it’s friendly for new and late pinoy gamers to play. You’ll be customizing your guns seriously when you reach “expert” level and sure ko addict kana Operation7 by that time. So for me…., ok na tong game na to for time killing and it has my basic “like” requirements like stamina for sprinting, the lean left and right, and the blurring video and sound effect pag natapunan ka ng gradnade.

World in Conflict

World in Conflict is a real-time tactical video game developed by the Swedish video game company Massive Entertainment and published by Sierra Entertainment. Surely Pinoy Gamers alike will be too busy handling each mission as the game does not offer base-building or resource gathering. Instead, players are given a pre-determined amount of in-game reinforcement and some tactical aids which you can use in different kinds of situation. Surely it’s clear that wasting your units and fire power is a stupid thing to do so esep-esep tayo habang nag lalaro nito.

The game is set in 1989 in an alternate history where economic troubles cripple the Soviet Union and threaten to dissolve it. However, the title pursues an alternate history scenario where the Soviet Union does not collapse and instead pursues a course of war to remain in power. The player controls Parker’s role as the West engage the Soviets across several combat theaters from the west coast of the United States during the surprise invasion of Seattle to NATO’s defense of Europe, particularly that of southern France. Two commanders which fight alongside Parker are – Captain Mark Bannon and Captain (later Major) James Webb. The trio is under the command of Colonel Jeremiah Sawyer who has been called out of retirement.

Recommended System Requirements:

OS: Windows® XP, Windows Vista

CPU: 2.5 GHz or faster

RAM: 1024 MB (1.5 GB for Windows Vista)

Graphics: 256 MB video RAM, DirectX 9.0c-compatible

Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible

Hard Drive: 8 GB or more available hard drive space

Disc Drive: DVD (Not required for downloadable version)

Input: Keyboard and Mouse

Internet play: Cable/DSL or better (Not required for Single Player)

DirectX 9.0c

Tips on playing World in Conflict:

Killing enemy units gives you points that you can use for reinforcements

Completing secondary objectives often satisfies Colonel Sawyer or other ranks above you which results to more tactical aids and reinforcement points. Meaning more Artillery barrage, Precision artillery, Air to air strike, Napalm Strike, Carpet Bomb, Nuclear Strike, and etc

Use your unit’s special abilities wisely and memorize those shortcut keys

Always plan your attack and formation before moving

Gaia Online

Did you know pinoy gamers that Gaia Online started as an anime-themed forums-based website? Originally named “Go-Gaia”, it opened to the public on February 18, 2003 by Gaia Interactive. Gaia originally began as an anime linklist and eventually got itself a small community but after a statement by founder Derek Liu, the website moved towards social gaming. Users of the site, denominated as Gaians, create a customizable avatar and a customizable virtual home for which they can purchase equipable items using what is called Gaia Gold. This virtual currency is given to the users after engaging in some of the website activities, like playing a series of Flash games or the regular posting inside the forums; the site also rewards users everyday with random quantities of gold and items with the Daily Chance feature. In October of 2007, Gaia released a new kind of currency denominated as Gaia Cash that can be bought at Rite Aid or Target stores

Games

Gaia Online currently offers different Flash games. In most games, users can win different items or gold, the virtual currency, which may be exchanged for items. For example, in Gaia Fishing, users fish on the banks of various lakes and often catch anything from different fishes to garbage, these can be exchanged for fish-shaped hats and/or clothing made out of recycled garbage.

Gaia Battle

Gaia Online has announced it is developing an MMORPG where users will be able to battle monsters and participate in RPG style quests. The offical name of Gaia’s battle system will be chosen via a user contest. The game will utilize special rings to simulate abilities. While a sub-forum for the battle system has been established, the official release date has not been announced kaya kita kits nalang mga Gaians.

Fishing

One of our favorite is fishing; you just buy baits with different grades to choose from and of course fishing rod which you can upgrade. Sa katulad ko na mahilig mangisda eh magugustuhan niyo to, lalo na kapag naka punta kayo sa map na yung isda maliliksi if you know what I mean.

Rally

On June 18, 2007, Gaia Online and Scion announced a partnership that allowed users to create virtual Scions, with customizable wheels, decals, fog lights, tail lights, and spoilers, and race and display them to other users in a Adobe Flash game called Gaia Rally. Other cars that came with the game are the fake Possum, and Musculero. They are also customizable but have much fewer accessories then the Scion. In this game users are able to race their cars in a simple track. Clicking the left mouse button beckons the car to move, gradually increases the speed. Numerous obstacles appear in the road for one to overcome, such as cows, UFOs, ramps and zombies.

There’s a lot more games and things you can do in Gaia Online mga pare ko, click here to visit their site.

Crysis
My Filipino friends, this is Crysis. Before telling you about the game I would like to first list its RECOMMENDED system requirements as it really really really going to kill your old box.
Recommended System Requirements:
•	CPU: Core 2 Duo/Athlon X2 or better
•	RAM: 1.5GB
•	Video Card: NVIDIA 7800 Series, ATI Radeon 1800 Series or better
•	VRAM: 512MB of Graphics Memory
•	Storage: 12GB
•	Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c Compatible
•	ODD: DVD-ROM
•	OS: Microsoft Windows XP or Vista
•	DirectX: DX9.0c or DX10
As we can see here, almost majority of pinoy gamers today is below these specs. So if you want to play this game na hindi kayo nilalabasan ng ugat sa galit dahil hang ng hang PC niyo eh dapat ma meet niyo muna ang recommended requirements so that you can play smoothly. Enough said about that so let’s to the game.
Crysis is based in a fictional future where an ancient alien spacecraft has been discovered deep within the Earth. The single player campaign has the player assume the role of United States Delta Force operator Jake Dunn, referred to in-game by his fieldname- Nomad. Nomad is armed with various futuristic weapons and equipment, most notably a “Nano Muscle Suit” which, according to Crytek senior game designer Bernd Diemer, was inspired by the United States’ Future Force Warrior 2020 program. In Crysis, the player fights both North Korean and extraterrestrial enemies, in four different locations: a tropical island jungle, inside an “Ice Sphere” (consisting of the same jungle, but frozen), the alien ship itself (with a zero-gravity area) and an American aircraft carrier.
So why pinoyGR is drooling for this game?
•	Mga pare ko, sobrang ganda ng graphics, sure ko abot hanggan tenga ang smile niyo hanbang tinitinrahan niyo ng RPG ang mga choppers didto.
•	Its atmosphere is almost like real life.
•	You will be challenge to all level rin kasi ma’utak ang mga AI ng mga kalaban, they will change their response base sa mga nangyayari. But if ever your good at counter-strike and you get used to playing crysis, you’ll find out their weakness.. I got bored when I found out my style…
•	Customizable assault rifle “The Scar” (not only The Scar, you can also customize those weapons you pick up from enemies) and Nanusuit that has maximum speed, maximum armor, maximum strength, and camouflage system….. CAMOUFLAGE pare, do you know what that means?, you can do many evil things with this suit.. like sneak behind an enemy at the top of the scout tower (“mostly the snipers”), grab them at their throat and throw them like a flying bird…, except that their not birds so watch them bounce off onto the ground… hehe.., anyways it has time limit while using it so pag na deplete na eh switch to maximum armor dn wait kalang ng kaunti then you can proceed doing evil things.. ahihihi..
•	Environment in Crysis is so interactive. What we mean by this eh yung mga trees, grass, cliff side, and etc na halos makitamo mo e masisira mo by will if you have the fire power. Also note that the sound you make in the environment can help your enemies detect you.
Conclusion
Conclusion is that this is a nice game to accompany you for a week or so. Just be sure your computer can play it.
